OBAMA WON SECOND DEBATE LAST NIGHT
The early polls show that most Americans gave Barack Obama a big win last night. In the CNN poll, viewers gave Obama a 54-30 landslide victory. Obama did even better than that on some of the questions the poll asked. I think Obama has now sealed the deal. I don't see how John McCain can overcome the clear Obama lead that almost all of the polls are now indicating. There are 27 days remaining.
McCain's failure to treat Obama with respect is striking. Last night, McCain referred to Obama as "that one" and he was visibly angry when he said this. He rarely looked at Obama. In the first debate he never looked at Obama except for the obligatory handshakes. McCain says he can work with Democrats. But he reveals that he sure doesn't want to work with "that one."
Some people believe this remark was racist. Maybe. McCain's past record does reveal some racist tendencies.
McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, is directly accusing Obama of "palling around with terrorists (because) he doesn't see America the way we do." (How could he? He's black!) But McCain didn't go that far last night. He stuck to policy differences. Still, I wonder what McCain really thinks about his opponent. I wonder if he is thinking: "How can I possibly lose to this uppity young black man?"
