A LETTER TO SARAH PALIN

Dear Sarah Palin,

What has Barak Obama done to deserve the wrath and scorn you heaped on him last night, Sarah Palin?

As far as I am concerned, you mocked me. You ridiculed me. You dissed all Americans who have come to different conclusions about our political and spiritual life. You could have stuck to the issues. You could have told us how you and the Democrats differ on the issues. But that wouldn't have electrified that Far Right so-called Christian base of your Republican Party. I guess that's your job and you did it and you probably will continue to do it.

Where does Jesus tell you that its OK to be so mean? The Jesus I follow would tell you in no uncertain terms to work for reconciliation, to seek common ground, to try to unify rather than divide. I simply don't understand how your so-called Christian supporters can think that its OK to be so mean, so divisive, so scornful.

I know the chances of this letter getting read by you are miniscule. But, if somehow you do read it and actually do think about what I am saying, I want you to know that you are a fantastic and wonderful person made in the image of God. You can become even more fantastic and wonderful if you prayerfully and carefully keep growing and keep changing. I hope you will use your newly found national and international status to be a uniter, a healer, a reconciler, a peacemaker, an agent of love.

love,
john
