CENTERING PRAYER & LECTIO DIVINA at First Presbyterian Church, Utica
On the second Sunday of the month, beginning at 9 am, you are invited to take a moment in your life for stillness and silence together with others who find amazing peace and power in this practice. You can come and join us even if you come late or must leave early. We open with a brief period of checking in. In the next 20 minutes of our time together, we simply sit still as each person dwells on a personally chosen and meaningful sacred word. This practice makes it possible for each of us to be in the presence of God in a unique way. Then we hear a scripture reading. Each person silently selects a meaningful word or phrase heard in the scripture reading. Some of us say that word or phrase out loud but that is not necessary. We hear the scripture reading again. This time each person silently contemplates on the meaning or meanings of the selected word or phrase. Some of us speak about the meaning we discovered. During and after the final reading, each person silently hears a call and makes a commitment related to the word or phrase. Some of us speak about the call and commitment. We close with a circle where we bless each other. Come and discover the loving power of Centering Prayer & Lectio Divina.
