POLITICS 2012 -- 4

+ I hear the pundits calling this a Base Election meaning that neither candidate has the popularity to swing many people away from their basic political preferences.  So, the election is close.  In 2 months we will have a winner but nobody can be sure right now who that winner will be.

I believe that the winner of most if not all athletic contests is the one who makes the least mistakes.  It could be the same in politics.  So, when Romney makes the mistakes he has made in recent days, the "game" starts going toward Obama.  But it's only the second inning.  Obama can make mistakes too so Democrats must not get over-confident because of the recent polls which show Obama gaining a substantial lead. The Gallup Poll which has shown a GOP bias in recent years now has Obama up by 7 points.

Favorability for Democrats is now in positive territory by 8 points while the GOP is in the negative by 10 points.  It is safe to say at this point that people are now believing that Obama and the Democrats are more to their liking on most issues facing the country.  I hope this edge for the Democrats can turn into a substantial victory in November.  An Obama landslide could make it possible for the House to return to the Democrats and the Senate to gain a larger Democratic majority.  Maybe a few Republican senators would actually start working with Democrats to solve problems.  It would be nice if the Senate would let go of its filibuster addiction.

Am I dreaming?
