COFFEE BREAK 206

+ "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt." -- Bertrand Russell. Thank You Don Reeves, Facebook Friend, for offering this wisdom which I have found to be all too true, sadly, for humanity at this juncture.

+ The New York Times offers "Retrenchment, by the Numbers" advocating that governments increase stimulus spending to deal with the faltering global economy and put deficit reduction on hold.

+ The New York Times offers "Trifecta of Torment" by Nicholas Kristof.  Here's a summary: "Republicans are offering a triple whammy to fix the economy: fewer jobs, worse deficits and greater inequality.

+ AlterNet offers "There Is Some Evidence the Dems Are Waking Up" by Michael Moore. He says: "I'm feeling that maybe, just maybe, we may prevent the All Souls Day Massacre."  He offers a strategy and sees some evidence that the Democrats are interested in things like reminding Americans who got us into this economic mess,  going after the Wall Street criminals and putting unemployed Americans back to work.
