COFFEE BREAK 74

+ The American League Championship Series continues. Last night's Angels-Yankees game was a delight and I watched the whole game which is rare for me these days. The Angels faced elimination. The Angels scored four times in the first inning and held a 4-0 lead until the seventh. Then the Yankees rallied and scored six times. But the Angels came back and took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the seventh. They held on to win and send the ALCS back to the Bronx. Game 6 Saturday night. Game 7 Sunday night if necessary and I hope it is.
No matter who is playing the Yankees, I'm rooting for them! I can't remember exactly when I made that life decision. I was probably ten. 1957. That's the year the Milwaukee Braves with Hank Aaron, Eddie Matthews, Warren Spahn and Lew Burdette beat the Yankees in the World Series. My favorite teams back then were the Giants and the White Sox. 1957 was the last year for the Giants and Dodgers in New York. The Giants moved to San Francisco and the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles for the 1958 season.
+ God's Politics offers "Adam Smith Meets the Rich Young Ruler: Health Care and the Common Good" by LaVonne Neff. Excerpt: "Ethicist Daniel Callahan diagnoses our problem in the most recent issue of Commonweal magazine and comes to this conclusion: we suffer from 'the absence in this country of a solid common-good tradition.'"

Hi, John.
I think I love your blog!
I came over here due to your comments on "Does Not Wisdom Call?" from a while back that, for some reason, escaped my notice when you first posted them.
I will definitely come back.
Also, I'm sure I would love to hear you preach!
