COFFEE BREAK 6

+ It is sunny and cold after a very windy and rainy Thursday along the Erie Canal. The meltdown is over for a while.

+ My favorite economist, Paul Krugman, is concerned. In his column "Failure to Rise," he states that he believes that the amount of the stimulus package is too small. He also wonders why Republicans are so determined to continue supporting a failed policy of relying only on tax cuts.

+ But maybe the whole system needs to be replaced! Common Dreams offers "Don't Fix Wall Street, Replace It: Why not an economy of real wealth?" by David Korten. Korten has a book on this subject just published this month: Agenda for a New Economy. John Cavanagh promotes it in "A Bold Proposal for a New Economy," a Huffington Post article picked up by Common Dreams.

+ Common Dreams has improved its format. It is better than ever!

+ In 15 days Mary & I are headed for England. We will be visiting London, Bath, Stonehenge, Avebury, the Cotswolds and Cornwall. In the 3 or 4 days we will be going our separate ways, Mary will go to Southampton and Bristol while I head for a destination or 2 not yet determined. I am blogging about this trip at The Abundancetrek Travel Blog.
