SUPPORTERS OF PALESTINIANS NEED TO CONFRONT THE HAMAS EXTREMISTS

I support the Palestinian right to have a viable state but I can not have any sympathy for HAMAS which embraces anti-Jewish attitudes which are sickening to me. I also must continue to condemn the government of Israel and all who support it including my government (USA) for its violence against so many innocent people. Both sides think violence and hatred are the solution. Both sides are wrong. How tragic.

Sojourners, a US Christian community devoted to peace and justice offers a quote by an Israeli peace activist which supports my outrage at the Hamas ideology of hatred and violence. Here it is:

"Hamas has pushed Israeli thinking back 30 years. It has killed the peace camp." - Boaz Gaon, an Israeli playwright and peace activist, whom The New York Times reports "found it deeply depressing how the Israeli public had embraced the military’s arguments in explaining the deaths of civilians. But he was livid at Hamas, both for what it had done to its own people and civilians in the south, and for its impact on the Israeli left." (Source: The New York Times)

Again, I repeat that I am outraged also at the Israeli government which also has an ideology of hatred and violence. HAMAS makes it hard to be sympathetic to the Palestinian cause just as the Israeli government makes it hard to be sympathetic to the Israeli cause.
